Chlorinated organic area

In the Chlorination Area of Caffaro Industrie S.p.A. linear paraffins (C14-17 middle chain and C18-20 long chain) are produced. The products of this area, chlorinated paraffins, are used in the tanning market, in the plasticizer market and in the metal working market. Chlorinated paraffins are worked by Caffaro brand in Torviscosa from 1995 and previously in Brescia, from 1975 until 1995. This product counts 50% of the turnover of Caffaro Industrie S.p.A.. In the same area of chlorinated paraffins iodine chloride plant is set up, property of Spin S.p.A., which produces a raw material used in the production of Bracco Group. In the Chlorination Area, besides, basic chemical products like hydrochloric acid and hypochlorite are produced.

Chlorinated paraffin plant, located in Udine province, could satisfy different market demands, with three different macro families:

• normal chlorinated paraffins, especially used for the production of plastic materials;
• stabilized chlorinated paraffins, used in the “metal working” market;
• solfan chlorinated paraffins, demanded for tanning market.
